Well, I step away from the blog for a minute and a month goes by... You can't tell, but Typepad has also changed while I've been gone. The editor is completely revamped, which probably means that this will be a plain vanilla post until I can figure out how to make the photo settings work for me again.
It's the last couple of weeks before Christmas break and as usual I am crazy busy and M is sick. One reason I haven't posted lately is because things just don't change much around here.
M is sick. Again.
Let's back up.
This latest wave of illness started around Thanksgiving when I felt like I'd been hit by a truck and fell asleep on my in-laws' couch during the family celebration. Yeah, I knew something was coming on. I ended up struggling through a week of work before I finally gave in and went to the doctor, being diagnosed with a sinus infection. I get those a lot these days.
As I started to feel better, M started to sport a fever that was our first clue that he was getting sick. Then he started to cough. So hubby took him to the doctor and the strep test was positive. He just had this in September, followed by the pneumonia that wouldn't go away. Today his chest seemed "tight" but there were no crackles so we're still okay there.
It's back to the same thing. Breathing treatments and antibiotics. He also has an Advair puffer now, maybe it will help.
Work is also pretty repetitive. I go to work and teach the kids. They are a pretty good bunch. On Monday though, one kid got suspended for half a day for teaching his classmates a new version of Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, using some colorful slang. :)
We still have no teacher's contract and it's nearly halfway through the year. The board and the teachers' union are both playing hardball and we've gone through mediation and a fact finding hearing. It's depressing to have it all play out like this and I'm guessing we won't have any resolution until at least after Christmas. Yeah, morale is kind of low these days.
Good thing I'm not in it for the money. ::sly grin:: I really do love my job and I love my kids. Today I gave in to the pre-Christmas break blahs and spent the last hour of the day putting up our class Christmas tree. The kids made ornaments or brought them in. I dragged my old tree in from home and we set up a 7 foot monument to all that is jolly and bright. No state objectives were met. Nothing testable here. But it was a really nice way to end the day. Yeah, I love my job. :)
Most of my Christmas shopping is not done. I haven't done Christmas cards. But I'm definitely filled with more Christmas spirit this year than I have been in years. I'll try to write more about it in the blog, for those of you who still read it.
Laters...
Thanks for the update...just making sure all is well in your world...It sounds like you need the wait 3 days and then go to the doc speech! Are you going to see the kiddos this year? We are hanging out here with my sista!
